Airships

Solarpunk airship reference for docks, crashed components, upgrades, repair kits, storage, colors, merchant parts, and island exploration.

Airships are the bridge between base-building and wider island progression. Use this page when you need the practical path: recover components, build or use a dock, upgrade range or safety, prepare inventory, and turn each flight into a specific resource or checklist goal.

NeedBest PageWhat To Do
First airship recoveryAirship Repair and ExplorationFollow the guide once food, water, storage, and basic research are stable enough that a trip will not interrupt survival.
Dock and upgradesAirship UpgradesUse Dock, Advanced Dock, battery, engine, hull, solar, chest, plan, and tech component entries to decide which travel limit to fix next.
Crashed partsCrashed Airship ComponentsCheck key items and route trips around crashed-airship recovery before spending airship tech parts elsewhere.
RepairRepair KitBring repair support before longer flights, especially when crashing into obstacles would waste the trip.
Colors and merchant partsMerchant and Vending MachineUse vending machine tickets and merchant rewards for airship colors and upgrade components, then apply relevant upgrades at the Dock.
Exploration targetsBiomes and IslandsPick a route goal before takeoff: plants, ore, loot chests, winter islands, or materials for the next upgrade.
Completion goalsAchievementsAirship Builder, Maxed Airship, Fresh Paint, Winter Flight, and Treasure Hunter are easier when tracked alongside real exploration trips.

Practical Flight Checklist

  1. Decide the trip goal before takeoff: one missing material, one plant route, one loot-chest route, or one upgrade objective.
  2. Empty inventory into a return chest before leaving so trip loot does not mix with base materials.
  3. Check food and drink before longer routes; returning home hungry or thirsty wastes the flight.
  4. Keep the Dock near storage and processing stations so return trips become useful immediately.
  5. After a trip, sort results before taking off again; otherwise airship progress turns into unsorted chest cleanup.

Mechanics Worth Knowing

  • A powered dock lets you approach at higher speed.
  • After unlocking new airship colors in the vending machine, select them at the dock.
  • Airship technical components are needed to build, upgrade, and retrieve an airship.
  • Airship upgrade components acquired from the merchant are added to your Key Items inventory. They can be used at a dock to increase the airship’s range.
  • An airship plan is needed to build a new airship.
  • Docking and precise flying are easier in first-person view.
  • Hover near the ground to dock; the airship automatically descends.
  • If you lost or crashed your airship, you can retrieve it at your dock.
  • Important key items, such as Crashed Airship Components, can be found in your inventory under “Show Key Items.”
  • Repair kits can repair a damaged airship.
  • Repair kits fix airship damage from flying into obstacles and can be crafted at a crafting table.
  • Visit a dock to upgrade your airship.

How To Use This Reference

Use this as the airship landing page when you are deciding what the next flight should accomplish. A good flight has a target, empty inventory space, food or water for the route, and a return plan. Upgrade range, repair support, storage, or dock access only when they solve a real travel problem.
